Julie Mathews is a member of Ankara Social Sciences University. She previously served as the Director of the Graduate School’s MATEFL program from 2006-2013 at Bilkent University. During her PhD studies at McGill University she was a recipient of a Fulbright grant for her research on sociocultural aspects of academic writing in a second language. She has also worked as a researcher at the Center for Applied Linguistics in Washington DC. Her most recent research interests involve exploring the social and political impacts of the internationalization of education and in particular the role that language and language teaching plays in this relationship. She has published in such journals as English for Specific Purposes, Computer Assisted Language Learning, Review of International Studies, and Higher Education.
